About PRP Therapy

A small amount of your blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets. This platelet-rich plasma is then injected into the thinning areas of the scalp with very fine needles.

Platelets contain growth factors that support the hair follicles. PRP is used on its own for early thinning, and alongside a hair transplant to support healing and the growth of new hair. Results vary from person to person.

FAQ

PRP Therapy: common questions

How many PRP sessions will I need?

Usually 3 to 4 sessions about 4 to 6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance sessions every 4 to 6 months.

Is PRP painful?

It is generally well tolerated. A numbing method can be used to make the injections more comfortable.

Does PRP work for everyone?

Response varies. It tends to work best for early thinning and as support after a transplant. Your doctor will tell you honestly whether it suits your case.

Can PRP replace a hair transplant?

No. PRP can strengthen existing hair but it cannot regrow hair in completely bald areas.
